“Prepare your minds for action” is the admonition of 1 Peter 1:13. That’s proactive apologetics. In this category I want to help you apply a biblical worldview.

In early October, the Barna Research Group and Arizona Christian University published findings that show that an extraordinary number of professing Christians in America have no intention of voting in this election. They reported that around 104 million “people of faith” plan to sit out his election. Of those, 32 million are professing Christians. The main reason these Christians give for declining to vote is a “lack of interest.” Researchers found that “voter enthusiasm” is…

The Ten Commandments are getting a lot of press these days. Atheists bristled when they discovered in May that a newly constructed Minnesota jail includes a two-story display of the Commandments. Then, on June 19, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry signed a bill requiring all public school classrooms to display a poster-sized copy of the Ten Commandments starting in 2025. This, he said, was for historical purposes. The Ten Commandments will be included among other documents…

LGBTQ activists have appropriated the animal kingdom for their cause. During the month of June, NBCUniversal’s streaming outlet Peacock TV is airing a documentary called “Queer Planet” to showcase “gay, lesbian, and transgender animals.” The “documentary” claims to focus on “LGBTQI+ tolerance” in the animal kingdom. According to the trailer, the program investigates the sexuality of “gay penguins, bisexual lions [and] sex-changing clown fish.” The “experts” on the promo gush that “this has always been…

Claudine Gay, the embattled president of Harvard University, resigned January 2. But as a tenured professor, she will continue teaching at Harvard. (In academia, administrative positions are often separated from teaching positions. To resign from one does not preclude retaining the other–even if the reason for the resignation was moral failure). What led to her resignation is worth a brief recap. And what we can learn from it is worth our attention. Accusations of plagiarism…

In 2002, I joined hundreds of other attendees at the Beyond All Limits Conference in Orlando, FL. Evangelical luminaries spoke in succession, providing biblical insight and counsel as the Christian church transitioned into the 21st century. Speakers included Jerry Falwell, Bill Bright, Tony Evans, and David Jeremiah. And Andy Stanley. At that time North Point Community Church was an infant congregation, and Andy Stanley was a humble pastor whose message was biblical and sound. But…

Last week Congress held hearings devoted to answering one of humanity’s most persistent questions: Are we alone in the universe? Is there life on other planets? Military aviators testified that encounters with UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, formerly known as UFOs) are more frequent than most people think. They provided graphic descriptions of these UAP, along with rather unsettling reports of encounters, including Russian aviators allegedly engaging with UAP in dogfights. Whatever is zipping around in…

The First Amendment of the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. It’s necessary to protect the liberties that our Founders sought to provide. The Founders intentionally included it alongside freedom of conscience (religion) and the freedom of the people to hold the government accountable (the press, assembly, and petition). The survival of our Republic depends on these rights. We don’t have to agree with one another, but we need to listen to one another and, together,…

The movie Jesus Revolution opened in theaters in February and took the #3 spot nationally, earning over $15 million the first weekend. By mid-March, it had surpassed $40 million in gross revenue, an eye-catching sum for Hollywood productions. And after eight weeks in theaters, the film continues to thrive as it shifts to DVD and streaming platforms. That’s good news, not only for Christians, but for our country as well. What’s it about? Jesus…

For five years the Washington Elementary School District in Arizona had contracted with Arizona Christian University to place student teachers in their schools for field experience. The contract provided opportunities for recruitment and hiring for the students after college. But on Feb. 23, the school board approved a motion to dissolve the partnership with ACU. The board wasn’t shy about its reason. Members of the board openly attacked ACU for its commitment to biblical values…

On January 12, 2023, Legislative Bill 371 (LB 371) was introduced by Republicans in the Nebraska Legislature. The bill protects children from being exposed to drag shows. In part, the bill prohibits an individual under 19 to be present at a drag show, and it forbids anyone under 21 from attending a drag show where alcohol is served. In addition, the bill imposes penalties on adults who bring anyone under 19 to a drag show…
